BUYING A HOME · LESSON 3 OF 6

Making an Offer

Make your offer. Stay connected. Follow what happens next.

Making an offer is more than choosing a price. See how your offer moves from your decisions to submission, review and response—and how digital tools like Propy can give you greater visibility along the way.

01 — DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT TO OFFER

What do you want your offer to look like?

An offer is about more than just price. You’ll decide the terms that matter to you and how you want to approach the purchase.

WHAT YOU DECIDE

Purchase Price

Financing

Earnest Money

Contingencies

Closing Date

Other Terms

You choose the terms that work for you. Your agent can help you understand how those choices may affect your offer before it’s prepared.

02 — YOUR OFFER IS PREPARED

Your decisions are put into writing

Your agent prepares the appropriate Purchase & Sale Agreement and any other documents needed for your offer based on the terms you’ve decided.

WHAT YOU DO

Review the documents, ask questions and sign when you’re ready.

HOW PROPY CAN HELP

When Propy’s offer tools are used, your agent can enter your offer details and attach your signed offer documents, helping move your offer into a digital workflow where its progress can be tracked.

03 — YOUR OFFER IS SUBMITTED

Your offer is on its way

Once your offer is ready, it can be submitted to the listing side for review. When Propy’s offer tools are used, the offer can begin moving through a trackable digital process.

WHAT YOU CAN SEE

OFFER SUBMITTED

You can receive a notification that your offer has been submitted.

04 — YOUR OFFER IS OPENED

Your offer has been opened for review

When the listing side opens your offer, the digital status can change—giving you another point of visibility into what’s happening.

IN REVIEW

Digital offer tracking can give you a clearer view of where your offer stands while you wait for the seller’s response.

06 — THE SELLER RESPONDS

The seller has made a decision.

The seller may accept your offer, reject it or propose changes through a counteroffer. What happens next depends on their response.

REJECTED

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

If the seller accepts, your purchase can move forward. If the seller counters, you’ll decide whether to accept the changes, reject them or respond with different terms. If the offer is rejected, you can decide what you want to do next.

With digital offer tools, these responses can be reflected in the offer status so you have a clearer view of what happened and what comes next.

07 — YOUR OFFER IS ACCEPTED

You and the seller have reached an agreement.

Your accepted offer becomes the agreement that moves the purchase forward. From here, the focus shifts from making the offer to completing the steps required before closing.

Digital transaction tools can help organize documents, deadlines, updates and next steps—giving you greater visibility as your purchase moves forward.
